| Artic Fox, Alopex lagopus, Manitoba
Canada
With two glistening black eyes, the fox proudly struts across the artic in it's fluffy sleek white coat. The foxes coat is whiter than that of Polar Bear and in it's own way, it is just as majestic. It feeds on ground-dwelling birds, lemmings and other small rodents and also eats the leftover from polar bear kills and carrion, such as stranded marine animals. Despite the harsh enviornment in which they live, artic foxes do not hibernate and are able to withstand temperatures as low as -58 F. or -50 C. |
