Galapagos Penguin, Spheniscus mendiculus, Galapagos
The Glapagos Penguin is the smalles of the world's eighteen penguin species. This penguin lives in the equatorial shores of Isabella and Fernandian Island, wher upwellings of cool, nutrient rich waters provide an abundant supply of small fish. They move around the rocky costal terrain by using both their feet and their flippers. When on smoother surfaces, however, they hop onward in a series of small jumps.
