Common Zebra, Equuus bruchelli, Tanzania
Common Zebras leave their resting place at dawn and move to grazing grounds to feed on grass and someti es leaves or bark. Zebras live in fmailies of up to 6 females and their young, each family led by an old male. When the male is 16-18 years old, he is peacefully replaced by a younger male 6-8 years of age and then lives alone. Several families may form large herds, but they can still recognize each other by sight, sound and scent.
